Having heard so many good comments about this LawnMaster CLMF2434G cordless mower and how great the support offered by LawnMaster is, I decided to give this mower a try myself. Once my LawnMaster was delivered I was keen to get out and see just how good this very reasonably priced mower really is.
If you’ve got a small to medium sized garden, then the last thing you want is a ginormous petrol lawn mower cluttering up the shed. For the most part, cordless is the best option here and I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried out the LawnMaster cordless lawn mower that is bursting with exciting features. When you consider the budget price of this mower compared with everything that is included, it isn’t difficult to see why this is such excellent value for money.
It comes with a rear roller, a mulching plug, a spare battery and a wide range of cutting heights, including a very low 20mm setting, giving you the freedom you need for versatile lawn mowing. But much more than this, the mower is well made and features a strong polypropylene deck, providing you with a surprisingly durable compact cordless mower.
Everywhere you look on this mower, you see something new and this is something that I’m really excited to share with you in this LawnMaster 34cm cordless lawn mower review.

Power System and Battery
The only downside to this is that you only get a single charger, so you can’t charge both batteries at the same time. That said, with a fast charging time of just 60 minutes, you won’t need to wait a long time. What’s more, you’ll get up to 30 minutes run time from a single charge from each battery, so 60 minutes in total. With this mower it’s all about getting the job done! Just remember, if your lawn is knee high, these run times will be significantly reduced.
What’s more, these batteries can be power shared across a selection of other 24v tools in the LawnMaster range. This is ideal for those who already have compatible tools or are looking to start a collection. With Samsung cells, you can feel confident that this isn’t a battery that is going to let you down.
With many smaller cordless mowers I have tested, I ended up purchasing larger and additional Ah batteries for longer run times and convenience. With this LawnMaster CLMF2434G mower you simply don’t need to do this. Purchasing additional 4.0Ah batteries is not cheap costing in excess of £80, so to get two batteries in the box, with a fast charger thrown in, is something of a very welcome novelty.
What’s more, if you do need to purchase additional batteries, they are readily available unlike some other brands, where spare batteries are impossible to purchase.

Performance
The mulching option also works exceptionally well and chops the grass cuttings into smaller pieces to decompose quickly, providing essential moisture and nutrients back to the lawn. I have tested so many smaller cordless mowers that have mulching ability, but many of them do not work as well as they should. Thanks to the excellent mulching blade on this mower and the design of the deck, this LawnMaster really doesn’t disappoint when it comes to mulching.
Another nice feature on this nifty compact lawn mower is that it comes with dual starter levers on either side, which translates into much easier manoeuvrability. This is great news for those with uneven, sloped or otherwise challenging terrain in the garden.
Designed for lawns measuring up to 300m², this is a great mower for slightly smaller spaces, although you could use it on a larger lawn as long as you don’t mind things taking a little longer. Remember you have two 4.0Ah batteries for longer run times, so this will compensate somewhat for the smaller deck size. That said, the mower does have 2 bigger brothers, the LawnMaster CLMF2437G, with a 37cm cutting deck, and the biggest brother the LawnMaster CLMF4841E with a 41cm cutting deck and 4 batteries supplied.
But what impressed me the most, as mentioned above, was the intelligence of this lawn mower. The battery/motor will work as hard as you need, delivering just the right amount of power depending on the conditions. When things get tough the power goes up, but for lighter mowing it is decreased, which is excellent for getting the best run time out of the batteries.

Deck and Blade
The blade is designed to accommodate the mulching function that allows the grass clippings to be circulated around the deck when the mulching plug is inserted. The inside of the deck is smooth and has no ribs or plastic extrusions making cleaning the deck much easier.
You would be surprised at how difficult it is to purchase spare blades for some brands of lawn mower currently on sale. This is not the case with this LawnMaster as spare blades are readily available and reasonably priced.
Rear Roller
Do you like a striped lawn appearance? If so, that is great as this LawnMaster CLMF2434G cordless mower DOES come complete with a rear roller to produce that traditional English striped lawn. The rear roller will also assist with greater stability and cutting over the edge of the borders without scalping the edges. Remember this mower is lightweight, so will not generate deep long lasting stripes, like you would achieve from a heavy petrol mower. Having said that, the rear roller is a nice touch missing from so many other cordless mowers I have tested.

Handles
Even though this is a smaller mower, storing a lawn mower is one of the biggest problems for homeowners since many people do not have ample outdoor storage. What’s great about this cordless mower is the ability to fold the handles at both the middle and lower points. This also enables this mower to be stored and cleaned in the vertical position (see my video review above).
As mentioned above, there are two operator presence control levers on both the left and right of the bars. This helps with manoeuvrability and for going around corners in both left and right turns.
The only minor downside is the lack of quick release levers for folding the handles. Instead you need to unscrew and loosen the nuts on each side before the handles can be folded.
Height Adjustment
The minimum cutting height is 20mm, while you’ll have the option of 70mm at the other extreme. What’s more, as you can see from my video review, these can be easily adjusted using the single lever which makes changing it up or down simple, quick and hassle-free.
It’s great that LawnMaster have included a low 20mm setting, the lowest you will find, for those that like a bowling green finish. Just remember cutting the lawn this low will require regular watering and TLC especially during dryer periods.
Grass Collection Bag
Moreover, the circulation within the 32 litre grass collection bag is second to none, meaning that it really packs full before you’ll need to empty it.
Again, as you will see from the video, attaching and removing the grass collection bag was quick and simple, and when attached it is secure with no risk of bouncing off.
I found that emptying the grass collection bag was easy, thanks to the well positioned handle, and there were no obstructions preventing the grass cuttings exiting the bag.

Mulching
I mentioned earlier that I thought this mower was excellent value for money and the fact that it comes with a mulching plug supplied is another reason to back this up. The modern consumer wants as much versatility out of their tools as possible and while you may not wish to mulch every time you mow, this is an essential option for the health of your lawn.
Pop the mulching plug in and your grass clippings will circulate around the blade before being delivered back to the lawn to improve its health, growth and appearance.

Safety Features
For people with children, there is always a danger of an accidental start up. But the LawnMaster comes with a safety key which can be removed between uses. Unless it is slotted in, the mower won’t turn on.
Please note that this mower only comes with one safety key, however spares can be purchased separately.
As standard with all lawn mowers, there is also an Operator Presence Lever.
Practicalities
If you’re limited on storage space, the folding handles, folding grass collection and vertical storage allows you to slot this mower into the garden shed without taking up all your available space.
There is nothing more infuriating than trying to solve a problem and not knowing the answer. But I was massively impressed by the amazing customer service you get from the manufacturer. Here in the UK, you have access to phone support Monday to Friday, so you’ll never need to worry about sitting on the lawn and scratching your head again. If you need spare parts, these are pretty easy to come by and don’t cost the earth, so provided you maintain the mower, it should last for many years trouble-free.
One slight downside is the lack of visible battery gauge whilst mowing. Some mowers such as the Murray allow you to push a button on the bars to see how much charge the battery has left. This is no big deal, besides LawnMaster are giving you 2 x 4.0Ah batteries, enough to cover up to 300m².

Should You Buy This Model?
I think this would be great for anyone who wants to maintain their small to medium sized lawn with something that is easy to use and reliable. However, if you do have a slightly larger lawn, don’t forget that there is a larger LawnMaster model available with a 46cm cutting deck. Otherwise, this is the epitome of convenience with excellent build quality, fast charging and a decent run time, that allows you to get outside, get things done and then get on with enjoying your garden.
As I have already mentioned this is a well built lawn mower, that performs exceptionally well, at a very affordable price.

Where convenience and reliability meet, you will find the LawnMaster CLMF2434G cordless mower. It doesn’t claim to be anything that it isn’t, but what it is, is seriously impressive.
