Summary
It was great to finally get my hands on and be able to carry out an Einhell GE-CM 33 Li review, as I have heard such positive feedback about this cordless mower. I wanted to compare it to the likes of the WORX and Bosch cordless mowers that I have recently tested.
A cordless lawn mower gives you so much freedom and manoeuvrability around the garden and I was keen to see if this Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower would live up to its expectation.
I will take you through what I have found out about this Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower, and by the end of this review you will know if this mower is one you should consider purchasing.
Einhell mowers, and garden tools in general, would be considered as a medium German brand and have produced some fantastic, reasonably priced petrol mowers over the years.
The Einhell GE-CM 33 Li is a reasonably priced cordless lawn mower, and will save you the hassle of cords and eliminate the chore of adding petrol and oil. It is an easy to use mower that has the ability to share its batteries with other Einhell garden tools, and can be purchased in two sizes, 33cm and 30cm.
The mobility and agility you enjoy from the lightweight design and lack of a cord making it great for gardens with lots of curves, bends, flower beds and narrow strips of lawn.
I will take you through each feature of the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li and share with you the positives and negatives of this model. In addition you can also refer to my video review below to see these features and performance in action.

Power System
This Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is powered by 2 quality 2.5 Ah 18 volt Lithium-Ion batteries. The power rating is a decent 36V and charges in a respectable 120 minutes and have a lifespan of roughly 1,000 charges. That is a great lifespan that will keep you going for many years.
Unless your grass is very long or wet, you can expect about 30 minutes of operation from a single charge and will allow you to mow a lawn around 200m². This cordless lawn mower should be ideal for most small to medium lawns.
Although the 2.5 Ah are supplied as standard with this mower, you do have the option of using higher rated batteries to extend the run time. Below is a chart that shows the different options available to you when purchasing additional batteries. As an example, if you were to purchase 2 additional 4 Ah batteries you could extend the run time of this Einhell GE-CM 33 Li to 60 minutes allowing you to cut up to 400m². Just remember this mower does have a smaller deck size and a 30 litre grass collection box, so is not ideal for larger lawns.
The great thing about these Einhell batteries is the ability to use them across the range of Einhell tools that support the Power X-Change batteries. There are over 200 tools available from Einhell that will power share with the batteires.
Batteries are readily available here in the UK, and are priced similar to Bosch and WORX batteries.
This mower is supplied with two chargers so that you can charge both batteries simultaneously to save time. The only slight negative about the chargers is twofold. The first issue is that 2 separate charges are supplied. It would have been better to supply a dual charger that takes two batteries like other brands. 2 chargers will require 2 mains sockets. Secondly, there is no charger-base that can be mounted on the wall. You are just provided with 2 quite flimsy adaptors that need to be attached to each battery to charge.

Assembly
To be fair, this Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower needed very little assembly. Simply screw the handles to the base of the mower, then screw the upper handle section in place and you are ready to mow!
No tools are required and the assembly will only take a few minutes.

Features In Detail
Blades
This lawn mower, as it is designed for small to medium gardens, has a smaller deck with a 33cm cutting width. This mower is not suited for larger lawns as you will need to make many passes and be restricted by the 30 litre grass collection bag.
This Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower is perfect for lawns no bigger than 200m², and because it is light and nimble you are not sacrificing on manoeuvrability.
As mentioned earlier, Einhell produce another similar cordless mower with a smaller 30cm deck size, that is designed for lawns up to 150m². There are some other differences between these two mowers so I have created a handy table above to highlight the variations.
As you can see from my video, the Einhell GE-CM 33 Li cuts very well and the power complements the deck size well. When I shot the video, it was mid-March and the lawn was still very damp and soft from the previous heavy rains. I did have my doubts about the Einhell’s ability to cut well in these conditions, however I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cut and the run time achieved in these conditions.
The steel blade on the Einhell can be sharpened or easily replaced. Genuine Einhell blades are readily available and will cost around £20.

Height Adjustment
It is important to have a good range of cutting heights so you can cut your lawn at different times of the year, as well as in different lawn conditions.
It’s great to see that Einhell have included 5 cutting heights that range from 25mm to 65mm. This is perfectly adequate for a lawn mower of this size, you would very rarely cut a lawn below 25mm anyway.
The height adjustment lever is mounted centrally to the mower and is easy to adjust. I really do prefer centrally mounted levers, they just seem to work more effectively when adjusting all 4 wheels simultaneously. You can see from my video just how easy the height adjustment is to operate, both raising and lowering the mower.
Compared to many other mowers, the height adjustment lever could not be easier.
Roller (Stripes)
This Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower does not have a rear roller, so will NOT produce a striped lawn.
Grass Collection Box
The grass box on this Einhell GE-CM 33 Li Lawn Mower has a good 30 litre capacity so will save you time as you cut the lawn, reducing the number of stops needed to empty the box.
Most lawn mowers of this size will have a similar sized grass collection box, and it is just about right for a mower designed for small to medium sized lawns.
The grass box has a solid plastic top and very good quality woven soft sides and bottom.
The grass box also has the benefit of having a “full indicator flap” that clearly shows when the grass box is full and requires emptying. This takes the guess work out of the task – nice one Einhell.
The grass box does come assembled, you just need to fold the metal bar down and clip in the soft lower part of the grass box. This allows you to store the grass box flat when not in use, this is a great space saver.
The advantages of this type of grass box are the minimal storage space required and being easy to assemble. The downside is that the cloth sides and bottom are more prone to damage from tearing etc, however the quality material on this Einhell lawn mower is very hard-wearing when compared to other makes.
Practicalities
The Einhell GE-CM 33 Li is a practical lawn mower by virtue of its size and the fact that it is cordless. You are not tethered to the socket by the cord like electric mowers and you don’t have all the fuss with oil and petrol as with petrol mowers.
Is it more practical than other cordless mowers of this size? Well, no not really. Although this mower is practical by design, it is not packed with other features that sets it out above the competition.
For example, the handles do fold down at the central point, but not at the lower point. Other mowers can be folded at both points, allowing it to fold flatter than the Einhell GE-CM 33.
This mower is very lightweight at just 11.5 kg making it very easy to manoeuvre around the garden and light enough for easy transportation.
The Einhell GE-CM 33 does not have a mulching ability so the grass cutting will need to be collected. The more than adequate 30 litre grass collection box ensures you will not be stopping every 5 minutes to empty it, allowing you to get the job done quickly.
Another notable practicability of this lawn mower is the low sound level. This mower is very quiet, which means that you will not be disturbing your neighbours during your early morning cut.
The batteries from this Einhell mower can be used in other Einhell power tools and visa-versa adding additional practicalities of owning this mower.
Safety Features
The Einhell GE-CM 33 has two user safety features that are commonly found on most cordless lawn mowers.
In order to start the machine, you need to insert the safety key located between the two batteries. Straight away this feature makes it safe from accidental starting when the key has been removed. Only one key is supplied, so be careful not to lose it. Replacement keys can be purchased from Einhell should this happen.
Then there is a red lock-out button that you need to engage and pull up the Operator Presence control lever to start the mower.
These features work well and are proven to prevent accidental starting, and reduce the risk of injury.
Another beneficial feature I noticed when testing this mower was, when I released the Operator Presence control lever the motor stopped almost instantly.
Mulching

Pros and Cons
As I said earlier, there are many advantages to this lawn mower but there are a few downsides too. Let me explain both so you know what you are getting for your money, and if this is the best option for you.
Conclusion
If you purchase this Einhell GE-CM 33 cordless lawn mower you are simply getting a good quality cordless battery mower that will get the job done effectively and efficiently. Yes, there are no bells and whistles on this mower, however if you want a cordless mower that is well built and is not going to cost the earth, then this may well be the mower for you.
Do I think it is better than the WORX WG779E for example? Well no, not really. Both mowers are very similar overall. What I like about the WORX is the ability to switch to Eco mode to prolong the run time of the battery when the lawn is shorter and does not require full power. The other point I noticed between these two mowers is that the WORX seems to cut closer to the edge.
Having said that, the Einhell height adjustment works smoother than that of the WORX, the Einhell has wider wheels that are also larger at the rear and there are over 200 Power X-Change tools that can be used with the same battery.
This lawn mower has a lot going for it and is a good investment. The few downsides it has are pretty much the same as any other cordless option. The ease of use and freedom this quality cordless lawn mower offers, more than make up for the minor inconveniences.
In summary, its performance, durability and great built quality make this mower a strong contender.
Should You Buy This Model?
The general feedback from those that have bought and used this Einhell GE-CM 33 is overwhelmingly positive and no major design faults or issues have materialised, which is a great endorsement.
There are a few factors to consider first, whether or not you purchase this model really depends on your garden and situation.
To give you some guidance on which type of customer would suit this model best, below I’ve listed the categories they would fall under:

- People who do NOT want striped lawn appearance.
- Those that may have other Einhell cordless tools as batteries are interchangeable.
